About Your Visit

About Your Virtual Visit

Your Virtual appointment may be through a phone call or video conference.

The platform we are using for video appointments is called Doxy.

Once your appointment has been confirmed you will receive a link by email that will allow you to reach the doctor you are booked with at your appointment time. It is best to be in a quiet and well lit room. Sit in an upright chair, with a foot stool, pillow and nipple shield (if used) readily available.

In preparation, please have the record of all your baby’s weights including birth weight and recent weight, the names and doses of medication that you are currently taking .

Do not feed your baby nor pump your breasts for at least two hours before your appointment. It is important to have a hungry baby.

Please login 5-10 minutes before your appointment time.

The doctor will do a Clinical Breastfeeding Assessment which includes obtaining a detailed mother and baby history, followed by a breast examination and infant oral examination.  The doctor will watch breastfeeding and do a Test Feed to evaluate how efficient the baby is at breastfeeding.  Based on the findings, the doctor will make a diagnosis and then offer some advice and recommendations regarding the management of the lactation and breastfeeding challenges. Follow up in office or virtual appointments will be arranged, as necessary.  The appointments take 30-60 minutes.

About Your In Office Visit

If you have symptoms related to COVID-19, such as fever, cough and difficulty breathing please DO NOT come into our office, please use the B.C. COVID-19 Self Assessment Tool or call 8-1-1.
During the Covid-19 pandemic our office will remain open. To reduce the risk of infection to our staff and patients your initial consultation will be done over the phone or virtually. During the initial consultation the doctor will assess if you need to be seen in the office. If so, an in office appointment may be offered.

For our in office appointments, we ask that you please limit the amount of people attending the appointment with you to one person. Others will be asked to wait in the lobby of our building.
